The table uses three categories to show the percentages of consumer expenditure in five selected countries in 2002.
Overall, Turkey had the the highest percentage for food, drinks and tobacco. For clothing and footwear, Italy was the highest and the percentage of Spain was the lowest on leisure and education.
As can be seen, the highest percentage was on food, drinks and tobacco. Turkey had the highest percentage, at 32.14%, on food, drinks and tobacco of all other countries. Then the second position was Spain at 28.91%. Italy, Spain and Sweden were similar in their range of categories with Spain having the highest percentage and Sweden having the lowest percentage.
However, on leisure and footwear, Spain had the lowest percentage which was half of the percentage of Turkey’s percentage and slightly higher than that of Ireland. By contrast, the percentage of Sweden was the highest. On clothing and footwear, Italy was slightly the highest of all other countries.
